Doug Barton Chairs TBA’s Signature Event
Barton Construction is an award-winning
builder in Tallahassee’s finest communities
The Tallahassee Builders Association has selected one of
its most decorated members – Doug Barton, CIP, CAPS,
of Barton Construction – to Chair the 2014 Parade of
Homes™, TBA’s signature annual event. “I am thrilled to be
heading up the Parade of Homes™,” said Barton, “in large
part because I know how much it means to our community
and all the TBA members who use the Parade to showcase
their skills new homes and all the many products and
services that combine to create great lifestyles.”
Born and raised in Tallahassee, Barton’s love for Florida’s
capital city has evolved over the years into a deep-rooted
appreciation for the all of the unique characteristics that
make our town so remarkable. A graduate of both Florida State and Auburn University,
Barton spent several years learning the fundamentals of architectural integrity.
Today, after over a decade of sound and successful business practices, his influence and
classic craftsmanship can be seen throughout Leon County, including in the popular
SouthWood and Midtown communities. With the assistance of wife Lisa Barton, also an
FSU graduate, Barton Construction is widely recognized throughout the region for fusing
the historical context of southern architecture with the aesthetic value of modern amenities
and construction.
Barton’s custom homes have been consistent winners in the Parade over the years, including
the Best of Show in 2012. He holds the professional designations of Construction Industry
Professional (CIP) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), respectively earned from
TBA and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
For this year’s Parade of Homes – scheduled over the weekends of May 10-11 and May
17-18 – Barton is focusing on bringing the TBA to the public in unparalleled ways.
“The Parade of Homes is a vital component to a complete marketing plan in the residential
arena,” stated Barton. “I’m truly looking forward to helping the TBA showcase our incredibly
talented local builders and their products with this event. I’m also excited to involve the
public not just as viewers, but as participants. They are our critics as well as our patrons.
This event can and should be a community affair.”
Barton said the Parade Committee is drawing on the experience of recent Parade Chairs Mark
Worley, CIP, GMB, of Worley Construction and Thomas Asbury, Jr. of Premier Fine Homes.
