PROVIDES BEAUTY AND BETTER FUNCTION

oakley & Williams Construction Inc.’s (CWC)

renovation of Woodmont Country Club’s

clubhouse has transformed a fifty-year-old

clubhouse into a spectacular space where

members can prepare for a round of golf, enjoy a meal with

friends or celebrate a special occasion.

The country club, located in Rockville, Maryland, built its

original clubhouse in 1949, adding on to it in 1981 and

1986. A few years ago members decided the structure

needed updating and, in December 2013, they chose CWC

for the work. The project scope included renovation of

the entire clubhouse, the demolition of a portion of the

building and construction of a 15,000 square foot addition,

as well as the demolition of the old pool pavilion and the

construction of a new one. The original contract value was

$20.5 million but, at Woodmont’s request, CWC performed

value engineering to reduce the cost to $18.5 million.

Woodmont was eventually able to add another $2.3 million

back into the project.

Because of permitting delays, CWC started its work with

the demolition of the pool pavilion in February 2014.

Renovation of the clubhouse began at the end of March
