their summer program and non-school day child care in

The Winona Senior High School (WSHS) continues

to be the flagship of the Winona Area Public School

serving students in grades 9-12 with a comprehensive

and challenging curriculum. College and career

exploration continue throughout high school as students

are encouraged to select an academic pathway that

meets their individual needs. WSHS is proud to offer

more than 200 courses for students to choose from

in 15 broad subject areas. From agriculture to world

language, and everything in between, there is a rich

menu of required and elective classes. Students are also

encouraged to explore the range of Advanced Placement

(AP) and College in the Schools (CIS) courses. Add to

that 26 athletics and over 30 activities and clubs, there is

something for everyone at WSHS. In January 2016, every

sophomore received a Chromebook to use at school and

at home as part of the district TL21 plan to transform

learning in the 21

st

century. Each year through 2019,

all students in grades 3-12 will have a mobile device.

Students and staff continue to appreciate the renovated

Kolter Math & Science Center opened in 2013 through

the financial generosity of former WAPS math teacher,

Richard “Dick” Kolter.

Students in middle school and high school have

many opportunities to travel through Education First

opportunities and as ambassadors to Winona sister cities

of Misato, Japan and Bytow, Poland.
