“and they wanted to bring the kitchen
design up to the standard of the rest of the
home.” The kitchen is where the couple
spends much of their time, and they
felt the space was too constricting and
enclosed. Elite turned two unnecessary
islands into one larger, open island with
day-to-day seating and desk space as well
as added entertaining functionality.
“Knowing them the way we did, it was fun
to design that island and the cabinetry to
their needs,” said Parker. “Every inch of
it has something to do with them.” Elite
kept the existing white cabinets along the
outside and added new ones next to the
sink and other areas, working with Custom
Wood Products this time, a factory custom
cabinetmaker. They added a new product
to the island called the Docking Drawer, an
in-drawer electrical outlet that functions
as an enclosed charging station, reducing
countertop clutter. Elite also installed a
wine refrigerator with a glass-door cabinet
above and put in a bookshelf facing out
toward the breakfast nook, tying the spaces
together. The customized, contemporary
new kitchen met and exceeded all the
homeowners’ expectations.
This multi-room project was not
completed all at once. The retiree
homeowners travel almost monthly and,
therefore, required a remodeler who could
start and stop as needed. Elite was happy
to make this schedule work. “The process
went off and on for a few years,” said Todd.
“This is a classic customer for us from
that standpoint.”
The clients provided their input as needed
and trusted Elite to update their home for
their use well into the future. They have
even opened up their house to let others
take a look at Elite’s superb remodeling
work, and the adoration is mutual: “We
couldn’t have asked for a better customer
to work with,” said Todd. It’s this sort of
long-lasting, symbiotic relationship that
Elite strives to nurture with every client,
and it’s clearly a crucial element to their
award-winning process. Beyond that, their
extraordinary work speaks for itself.
Justin Douglas, owner of Douglas Custom
Cabinets in Greenville. “We work with
him all the time,” said Todd. Douglas used
alder wood, bringing a rich, warm tone
to the room. They added a tower hutch
into the corner of the vanity cabinets and
replaced the linen closet with a built-in
cabinet. The end result brought much
needed efficiency and updates to the
master bath.
The clients were so pleased with Elite’s
work in the bathroom they invited them
back to revamp their kitchen. “The
kitchen looked old and tired,” said Parker,
"We gutted everything, took it basically
down to the slab. We killed the tub and made
the shower bigger and added an extra
cabinet against the bedroom wall."
