Numerous GHBA members, including
vendors and trades, gathered at a
homesite in Bridgeland for the official
groundbreaking of the 2015 Greater
Houston Builders Association Benefit
Home. Perry Homes led the ceremony on
a lot in the Beech Creek section of Hidden
Creek. Perry Homes donated construction
management, and Bridgeland’s developer,
the
Howard
Hughes
Corporation,
donated the homesite.
The beneficiaries of the home’s sale
are Texas Children’s Cancer Center, the
Alzheimer’s Association and HomeAid
Houston. Since the Benefit Homes Project
began 35 years ago, over $9 million has
been raised.
On hand for the groundbreaking were
representatives from the Benefit Homes
team, Bridgeland, Perry Homes, and
other vendors.
GHBA guests included Kevin Frankel,
president, Toy Wood, CEO and GHBA
staff.
Representatives
from
Texas
Children’s Cancer Center, the Alzheimer’s
Association, and HomeAid Houston were
also on hand. Angela Dina, mother of a
Texas Children’s Cancer Center patient,
spoke to the group. Nineteen gold shovels
launched the first stage of construction of
Perry’s 2-story 3199W E-70 plan.
“All Benefit Home groundbreakings are
huge milestones for the three charities
and the entire GHBA,” said Peter
Houghton. “It is also exciting to see
the dozens of vendors here who will be
donating to the construction of Perry’s
Benefit Home. This generosity defines
the nature of Houston’s home building
industry and the huge heart they have for
giving back to the community.”
RGVBA Presents Builder and
Associate Member of the Year Awards
The Rio Grande Valley Builders Association
(RGVBA) honored Divine Custom Homes
with the 2014 Builder of the Year Award in
December. Olga Treviño, owner of Divine
Custom Homes, has been an active member
of the RGVBA for many years.
The company has consistently participated
in the Association’s most important
fundraiser, the annual Parade of Homes.
Since its founding, Divine Custom Homes
has kept up with the latest improvements
in the construction industry to build the
best homes possible for their customers
and is one of only a few builders in the
Rio Grande constructing homes that
qualify for Version 3 of the ENERGY
STAR® program—designed to distinguish
homes built to provide energy efficiency
that is superior to homes built to code.
The company’s entry in the 2014 RGVBA
Parade of Homes, an ENERGY STAR®
and GreenBuilt certified home in the
Tanglewood community at Bentsen Palm
Development in Mission, Texas, won
seven awards—an unprecedented number
given to a single entry. This achievement
is a testament to the construction skills
of Divine Custom Homes. The RGVBA
is proud to recognize Divine Custom
Homes as 2014 Builder of the Year.
Valley Land Title Company was the
recipient of the Lester Miles Associate of
the Year Award for 2014. The managers
and staff of Valley Land Title Company
have generously helped the Association
with financial support of fundraisers
and volunteer work to assist in the
organization’s events. It is companies
like Valley Land Title that strengthen
the backbone of the RGVBA, allowing it
to serve the rest of the members and the
community at large.
