textural plant material, it provided a
very interesting aspect to the home,”
said Powell. “It has a lot of pop to it. It’s
warmer contemporary.”
In the master bathroom, the design was
inspired by the selection of the marble
flooring. Together with the wall-mounted
fixtures, the unified design creates a
feeling of serenity. The shower wall
features a unique three-dimensional
panel created from layering slate tile. “It
was supposed to be rock, but that’s so
expected,” said Powell. “So I thought,
‘Why don’t we bring another element into
the project?’” In addition to the unique
texture, the wall features small custom
waterfalls with built-in slits where the
water flows out.
The other areas of the living space also
incorporate many unique elements. In the
kitchen, a custom tiled hood was created,
foregoing the traditional stainless steel
hood. The lighting throughout the space
also breaks away from the expected by
diverging from traditional hard lines and
instead incorporating softer shapes. In
particular, the master bedroom’s lighting
fixtures are formed to resemble crystals.
Despite the many patterns and designs,
the home maintains a cohesiveness.
From the outside to the inside, a feeling
of modern design and home comfort
permeate. “Sometimes you go into a
house and there are things everywhere,”
said Powell. “In here, everything flows. It
all has a common language.”
CKC attributes the success to the abilities
and hard work of their team. “I think
without teamwork, we could not have
created this home,” Powell said. “It’s not
just one person, it takes a team effort.”
