TAB’s summer committee meetings will
be held from Tuesday, July 28 to Friday,
July 31 at the Gaylord in conjunction with
the Show. The HOMEPAC FUNdango
and 2nd Annual Statewide Washers
Championship will be held on Tuesday, the
Young Professionals event is Wednesday
night, and the Star Awards Reception and
Presentations will take place on Thursday.
We will wrap up the week on Friday with
the Board of Directors’ meeting.
The winners of the first Race of the “RPM
(Relationships Powered by Members)
Cup
Series Membership Challenge” will be
rewarded for their outstanding efforts
during the board meeting on Friday.
Builders and remodelers who did not
participate in the first Race can join the
RPM Cup Series for Race #2 that begins
on August 1. Membership Committee
Chairman Mitchell Anderson has been
passionate about this
“Do Business With a
Member”
recruitment campaign, and we
look forward to watching the RPMs grow
across the state. For more information
about the membership challenge, contact
your local HBA executive officer.
The week in North Texas is packed with
TAB and Sunbelt meetings and activities,
but the schedule has been designed to give
you time to relax and enjoy the Gaylord
Texan Resort with your family and friends
– this is a great opportunity to do business
while on “vacation.” Paradise Springs, the
Gaylord’s new 10-acre resort pool and lazy
river complex, is sure to be a fun gathering
place for children and adults. There’s also a
spa and fitness center, a sports bar and the
Glass Cactus Nightclub on the property.
The Dallas Cowboys Golf Club is just
minutes away, and downtown Grapevine
offers a variety of shops and restaurants.
I invite you to join us in Grapevine in
July where we will conduct the business
of the association and provide you with
new information, products and services
to help you do business at home. But
what makes TAB’s summer meetings and
Sunbelt Builders Show™ most rewarding is
the chance to visit with old friends, make
new friends and network with industry
professionals from around the state – all
under one roof at the Gaylord Texan. I look
forward to seeing you there and hope you
have a great summer.
Executive Director’s Message
By M. Scott Norman, Jr.
A
s I write this column in early May,
we are entering the final weeks
of the 84
th
Regular Session of the
Texas Legislature. As you are reading this
in July, the legislature may, or may not, be
in a Special Called Session to complete any
unfinished business.
Since January 13, much of the focus of
the volunteer members and staff of the
Texas Association of Builders has been
on the work being done under the Capitol
dome, and we have attempted to keep you
updated on our legislative efforts through
the weekly
Legislative Line
e-newsletter.
Many other TAB projects and initiatives
have been underway during this time as
well, and I want to use this opportunity to
talk about a few of these programs.
The doors to the 15
th
annual Sunbelt
Builders Show™ will be open on Wednesday
and Thursday, July 29 and 30 at the Gaylord
Texan in Grapevine, Texas. The trade show
is sold out, and dozens of companies are
exhibiting with us for the first time. The
Show features great speakers, timely and
informative education sessions, and the
chance to talk with hundreds of your
peers from across the state. We are excited
to bring the Show back to the DFW
area, and I want to thank our Sunbelt
