2013–2014 Director of Professional Development, Rosalina Rivera, BS, CHI, has
worked in the Medical Interpretation field since 2004. Through this time, Rosalina
has had the opportunity to serve in different aspects of the spectrum this type of
service offers. Serving as an interpreter, Rosalina has a solid understanding of the
challenges and improvement opportunities within the profession. She has also served
as a translator, trainer, instructor, and presently, as Supervisor for the Language Access
Services Department at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Rosalina has had the
opportunity to represent Language Access Services in different forums and is actively
involved in the field of medical interpretation supporting several initiatives dedicated to
the improvement and advancement of the Medical Interpretation profession. Rosalina
stepped up to assist TAHIT and volunteered for this position after other candidates
declined the offer.
And last but certainly not least, we are pleased to welcome back our 2013 – 2014
Treasurer, Alina Q. Wilson, CMI. Those who have been with TAHIT, or attended
a TAHIT event, know our beloved Treasurer well! This hard-working mother of 3
(and grandmother of 2) holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications & Public
Relations from Houston Baptist University and is certified as a medical interpreter
through the National Board of Certified Medical Interpreters (NBCMI). Alina
worked as a healthcare interpreter at the renowned level I Trauma Center, Memorial
Hermann-Texas Medical Center. for over 8 years. Recently, Alina embarked on a
new and exciting career as a Family Care Specialist at LifeGift, a not-for-profit organ
procurement organization that recovers organs and tissue for individuals needing
transplants. Alina has been deeply involved in TAHIT since the first official organizing
meeting in 2005 and has served as TAHIT Treasurer ever since. “I know my job
well and I love being involved in this wonderful organization,” she expresses. “I am
looking forward to serving you again as treasurer for TAHIT.”
These magnificent professionals join Edgardo Garcia, Vice President; Judith
Scott, Secretary; and Robin Gordon, Director of Outreach, to round out the
2013 Board of Directors. With this cadre of leadership, TAHIT has a bright future
ahead. We look forward to watching TAHIT’s strategic plan unfold and seeing the
organization reach new heights in the coming years. Congratulations to all and
