Delaware culinary and management team winners
competed against over 350 other students for top
honors and over $1.4 million in scholarships. The
management team from Cape Henelopen High
School included Noah Clifton, Drew Mulcahy,
Paige Fleegle and Sierra Matthews, with ProStart
Educator Jennifer Cornell. The culinary team
from William Penn High School included Jadaya
Hayden, Brent Hillard, Beatriz Balderas, Monserrat
Martin Del Campo and Luis Angel Ortiz, with
ProStart Educators Kip Poole and Matt Vaughn.
The management team created and presented
a restaurant concept to a panel of judges (and
possible investors!) while answering critical
thinking questions. Culinary teams are tasked with
creating a three-course meal in 60 minutes, using no
running water and only two butane burners. They
are also judged on knife skills, poultry fabrication,
sanitation, and plating/presenting their dishes.
