he Texas Association of Builders (TAB) announced and
presented the 2015 Star Awards on Thursday, July 30 at the
Gaylord Texan® Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine.
The highly-coveted Star Awards are given annually in conjunction
with the Sunbelt Builders Show™ to recognize excellence in all areas
of the home building industry. Almost 500 entries were submitted
for consideration in the 2015 Star Awards. The Texas Association of
Builders holds the annual competition to showcase the outstanding
work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, and sales,
marketing, and construction professionals in Texas.
Ryko Development was named Developer of the Year for its Lakes of Bella Terra
community in Richmond, Texas. The company also won Best Radio Commercial and Best
Sales Brochure.
For the third time in the last four years, Scott Felder Homes was named the Star Awards
Mid Volume Builder of the Year. In addition, the Austin, based corporation was honored
with Best Design Studio for the San Antonio Design Center and Best Special Promotion.
Rookie Sales Professional of the Year merits went to Sara McGettrick.
After winning three Star Awards last year, David Wilkes Builders won one of five grand
awards this year – Remodeler of the Year. The Austin based company also won six
additional awards including Best Architectural Design ($500-750K); Best Bathroom
Renovation ($50-100K); Best Whole House Renovation (in two price ranges, under
$150K and over $500K). David Wilkes Builders also came away with the Best Direct Mail
Piece, and Chris Carrillo was named Project Manager of the Year.
After a two year absence, Jenkins Custom Homes returned to the Star Awards winner’s
list. The Austin based company won its second grand Custom Builder of the Year trophy.
The organization also won the same award in 2009. Five additional custom builder
trophies were handed to Jenkins Custom Homes: Best Architectural Design ($1-1.99M);
Best Master Bathroom ($1-2M); Best New Custom Home ($1-2M); Best Outdoor Living
Space ($1-1.5M); and Best Online Advertisement.
Ashton Woods Homes topped the night with 12 Star Awards, including the grand
High Volume Builder of the Year award for the second consecutive year. The company
also took home volume builder awards in the following categories: Best Interior
Merchandising in two different price ranges ($500-599K and $700-999K); Best Product
Design in three price ranges ($250-349K, $350-499K, $500-599K); Best Email Message;
Best Billboard; Best Sales Brochure; and Best Website. Donnie Wessels was named
Construction Manager of the Year and Marcos Hernandez was voted Mortgage Industry
Professional of the Year.
