Rally Day 2015
More than 700 members rallied on the
south steps of the State Capitol on March 4
and visited with each of our state senators
and representatives to deliver a unified, pro-
housing message to our legislators. This was
a very strong showing. All of Texas’ statewide
elected officials – each of whombegan serving
in their office for the first time this year – also
met with TAB’s senior leadership on Rally
Day. Why “only” an A? Participation. Our
record for Rally Day attendance was 1,200 in
2007, and I am confident that we can again
reach that number at Rally Days to come.
Strength in numbers is important!

2015 Sunbelt Builders Show™
This year’s Show – the best in years – was
held July 29 – 30 at the Gaylord Texan in
Grapevine and was a terrific experience.
Almost 2,000 attendees visited 270 exhibit
booths to see the latest and most innovative
building industry products and services.
87 new companies exhibited, and 113 loyal
vendors returned to the Show. The Opening
and General Sessions and trade show
floor education rooms were filled to near-
capacity, and the ancillary events from the
HOMEPAC FUNdango and 2nd Annual
Statewide Washers Championship to the
Star Awards Reception and Presentations to
the Young Professionals Get Together were
fun and well-attended.

Committee and Board Meetings
I understand that not every member of
the association is able to travel to TAB
meetings from across the state. However, I
will continue to encourage each and every
member to participate in the governance
of your state association. Our committees
set the agenda for the direction in which
TAB will go, and your TAB staff wants to
know how we can best serve you and our
industry. While we continue to have strong
attendance, we always welcome new faces at
TAB board meetings.

Membership
This year, the RPM
(Relationships Powered
by Members)
Cup Series Membership
Challenge began. This back-to-the basics
“Do Business With a Member” challenge’s
goal is for every builder and remodeler to
do 100% of their business with associate
members. The “A” is for effort, and we’re
looking forward to improved results as the
Races continue. Additionally, for the first
time, all 28 of our local HBAs signed up to
participate in NAHB’s fall membership drive
and, in conjunction, TAB held its statewide
membership drive in September. The results
of these efforts will be revealed during TAB’s
meetings in November.
The volunteer leaders and staff of the
Texas Association of Builders are here
to serve you. We work every day to bring
you programs and services that will
provide a solution to a problem, help you
grow your business, and to work with our
policymakers to fulfill our mission: to
create a positive business environment for
the housing industry by addressing the
housing issues of the people of Texas.
I want to again commend the leadership,
membership and staff of the Texas
Association of Builders for an outstanding
year. Thank you for your support of your
association, and I hope to see you at the new
Westin Austin Downtown, November 10
– 12 for TAB’s fall meetings. Following the
Board of Director’s meeting on November
12, the Texas Housing Hall of Honor and
Excellence in Leadership Dinner celebrates
the men and women who have made
outstanding contributions to our industry
and association this year, and TAB will
install the 2016 Senior Officers. Register for
the meetings and purchase your tickets to
the dinner at

Texas Legislative Session
Government
Relations
Committee
Chairman Justin MacDonald, with the
support of volunteer members and TAB’s
professional government relations team,
had what may be a record-breaking 100%
success rate on the passage of all six of TAB’s
priority bills this session. In addition, the
team tracked 1,317 bills and had significant
influence on a large portion of those to
ensure that our industry was not subjected
to overly-burdensome regulations so that
we can continue to build quality, affordable
housing for the citizens of Texas.
