Call for Entries Announced for
2015 Star Awards

prestigious statewide building industry awards program.
The annual competition showcases the outstanding
work of builders, remodelers, architects, designers, and sales,
marketing, and construction professionals across Texas.
Winning a Star Award not only adds a beautiful trophy to your
collection but is a great way to market yourself to clients as one
of the best in the field. With over 80 categories to enter, we know
you have something for consideration. Save big when you enter
by the early bird deadline.
If you’ve entered previously, you will notice that we have
dramatically upgraded the online submission website. This
dedicated site will make it easier than ever to submit your entries.

Who is eligible to win a Star Award?
TAB’s Star Awards is open to members only.
However you are welcome to join one of
our 28 local home builders associations
to become eligible!
I don’t live in Texas. Can I enter?
Yes! The Star Awards accepts entries from
members regardless of where they are located.
How are the entries judged?
Our esteemed judging panel consists of 4-5
industry experts from across the nation. During
an intense judging period, each entry is shown
and considered. After discussion, each judge
assigns a score based on the quality of the
materials submitted. The highest cumulative
score in each category wins.
The exception to this is the judging for the
Grand Awards and Best New Custom Home
categories. These categories are not judged
individually. To enter these special categories,
you must follow the instructions and meet
the requirements outlined in the rules. The
scores received by the categories required for
submission are tallied. The Best New Custom
Home or Grand Award entry with the highest
average cumulative points is deemed the
category winner.
The judges may present special awards
based on their discretion. All decisions of
the judges are final.
When will finalists be notified?
Finalists will be notified in June.
Where and when is the awards shindig?
Winners will be announced at the 2015 Sunbelt
Builders Show™ on July 30, during the Star
Awards Presentations & Cocktail Party inside
the Grand Ballroom at the Gaylord Texan in
Grapevine, Texas. An official photographer will
be on hand to capture the winners receiving
their gorgeous, shiny trophies on the stage
of the ballroom. A press release will be sent
out announcing the winners of this statewide
contest. Past entries have been featured in a
special video, photo galleries and highlighted in
TAB’s social media and this magazine.
Where do I get an entry form?
It’s so easy! Enter online at
How many categories can I enter?
There is no limit to the number of categories
you may enter or the number of entries
per category.
How do I increase my chances of winning an award?
Be sure to fill out the online entry form
completely. The more questions you answer, the
better your chances of winning. Be descriptive
when you explain your entry but also keep
it simple. A clearly written entry can make
the difference between being a finalist and
a winner. Please follow directions closely.
Mistakes can turn a winning entry into one not
even considered. Prove to the judges that you
have an outstanding submission. Focus on why
your entry deserves to win.
How important are the photo requirements?
High quality images are a very important part
of your entry. High resolution photographs will
best showcase your project to the judges and,
if selected, will be used in the finalist catalog
and in the September/October issue of Texas
Builder magazine.
Can I reuse previous submissions?
If you’ve submitted an entry for a local
association awards program, you probably
already have most of your entry prepared.
Star Awards requirements are similar to other
award programs. You may be able to just copy
the information from past awards into the
2015 Star Awards online entry tool.
Note that projects and individuals that
previously received a Star Award in a specific
category are not eligible for consideration in
that same category but may enter another
category for that same project in the 2015
Star Awards. Just remember, entries must have
been built, marketed or employed between
Jan. 1, 2014 and March 28, 2015 in order to
be considered for the 2015 Star Awards.
