Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry™, formerly branded Great American Dine Out, is a national event that brings together thousands of restaurants and millions of consumers to help make sure no child in America grows up hungry. From September 18-24, 2011, participating restaurants will raise funds through a variety of ways to support No Kid Hungry, a national campaign to end childhood hunger by 2015.

“Annually, the Ohio Restaurant Association partners with Share Our Strength in an effort to help alleviate the suffering American children endure when they go to bed with empty stomachs and wake up with little hope for a decent meal,” said Jarrod Clabaugh, the ORA’s Director of Communications. “Last year, the ORA partnered with this wonderful organization. We understand the fact that the heart of every restaurateur is that of a philanthropist, and we know our member restaurants will once again participate to reduce childhood hunger and malnutrition.”

Last year, 4,000-plus multi-unit and independently operated restaurants joined Share Our Strength’s initiative to raise more than $1.5 million. Your restaurant can help the organization and its partners meet the 2011 goal of raising $3 million to make sure no child in America grows up hungry. Share Our Strength ® is the leading national nonprofit working to make sure no child in America grows up hungry. The organization uses the funds raised through programs like Dine Out For No Kid Hungry to support the grant-making component of its national No Kid Hungry Campaign.

Through No Kid Hungry, Share Our Strength funds anti-hunger organizations across the country in their work to connect families with the nutritious food they need. These grants are focused on increasing participation in school breakfast, summer meals, afterschool snack and supper programs and enrolling more families in food assistance programs.

To get involved with the program, go online: http://www.strength.org/ apps/dineout/index.php/Form/Add and register your restaurant today. Or, if you’ve additional questions about the program, contact the ORA’s Director of Communications Jarrod Clabaugh at: jclabaugh@ ohiorestaurant.org.
