FALL 2013

“As a staff of one, it’s important for me
to be able to network with my peers,
to bounce ideas off of them or get
new ideas. I’ve learned an awful lot
just by talking with the other people
that are here. There are a lot of good
ideas in this class that you can take
back and actually institute which
is very valuable for me. It’s a great
course if you’re going to pursue your
CAE or even if you’re not. It’s nice to
get together with people that you
have a like interest with and just kind
of bounce ideas off each other, I think
that is incredibly valuable.”
“Despite over 35 years of financial
experience, I felt as CFO of
Association Headquarters, Inc. that
I should attend the first course
offering – “Essential Practices in
Association Management”. The
content and delivery of the course
was intriguing enough to make
me want to sign up for a second
day of classes. After taking
the “Developing Your Leadership
Potential” course, I realized that
the information in the program
provided great insight into the day-
to-day world of my colleagues at
Association Headquarters, as well as
our volunteer leaders and clients. I’m
now scheduled and looking forward
to completing the remaining 3 course
days and earning my certificate prior
to the end of the year!”
“One of the things that’s really exciting
for me is that I’m in a leadership
position with my organization and this
program has really brought together
a lot of the good foundation needs
in terms of running and managing an
organization and specifically coming
from a corporate background into
a non-profit role. I think it’s good
to have that foundation to see how
things differ in terms of whether it’s
terminology, understanding about
volunteer boards…how it all works
when you’re dealing with a non-profit
versus a for profit organization.”
