This bill seeks to increase the state’s minimum wage to
$10.25 an hour and tie any future increases to a cost of
living raise. The bill was introduced after a Low Wage
Task Force put forth many recommendations including
raising the wage ultimately to $15 an hour and banning
what the committee calls “involuntary part-time” work.
This bill remains active and sits currently in the Senate
Labor and Industrial Relations Committee.
This bill was introduced to add electronic cigarettes to the
Clean Indoor Air Act. The law now prohibits the smoking
of all electronic smoking devices in all public places.
This bill sought to change the definition of a restaurant to
allow for smaller businesses to apply for liquor licenses.
The new law will now allow those restaurants that serve
complete meals and have more than 12 seats to be
considered for a license.
This contentious bill sought to exempt all non-profits from
taking the new FDA Food Code’s required Certified Food
Protection Manager Certification. After much education
and negotiation, the law now will allow for certain “very
low risk” non-profits (fire halls, fraternal organizations)
with limited food service to file for an exemption to
certain portions of the Food Code requirement as
approved through Public Health.
