2015 President Steve Sorrells
S
teve Sorrells was born on July 2,
1962 in Waco, Texas. Steve went on
to graduate from Abilene Christian
University with a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree in 1984. He later
attended the Institute of Real Estate
Management where he became a Certified
Property Manager in 1994.
He began his career in real estate with
Lincoln Property Company in Dallas. He
worked his way up within LPC, one of the
nation’s leading developers and managers
of multifamily real estate. Steve later went
to work for Houston developer Duddlesten
Management Corporation before returning
to Lincoln Properties where he became Vice
President/Director of Fee Management for
the Central U.S. region.
In 1998, Steve moved to Waco to follow his
lifelong dream of starting his own business
- Sorrells Development Corporation. He is
considered one of the premier developers
and custom home builders in Central Texas.
His companies have built over 200 homes and
developed 350 acres of first class residential,
multifamily and commercial developments
such as Badger Ranch, Riverside, and
Cameron Heights. Steve has earned a
reputation of unparalleled creativity, quality
and integrity.
Serving in a leadership role is nothing new
for Steve. He’s been heavily active in home
builders associations for more than 15 years.
He is entering his first year as President of the
Texas Association of Builders. Previously, he
served as the chairman of the Government
Relations Committee and Storm Water
Task Force for TAB. The Texas native has
also been a past president for the Heart of
Texas Builders Association, Badger Ranch
Homeowners Association and Riverside
Homeowners Association.
Steve married the former Becky Bourland
on May 4, 1985. Becky is a Certified Public
Accountant and works alongside her
husband as the company’s CFO. She also
graduated from Abilene Christian in 1984
with a Bachelor of Business degree. The
couple lives in Waco and has three children:
Jack (24), Emily (21), and Allie (16). Steve
also serves as a Deacon at Crestview Church
of Christ in Waco.
