The Ohio Restaurant Association understands that you - our members - are busy individuals committed to building the best teams possible in your operations. However, due to the constraints placed upon you to run your business, to manage your staff and to sustain and grow your business, it’s often challenging to dedicate all the tools and tricks necessary to hire the “right ft” for your operations.

The goal of this edition of à la Carte is to take the guessing out of wondering if you’ve followed all the right steps when you hire a new team member. In fact, we hope through the articles we and our partners have provided in our frst Human Resources Edition, you fnd it much easier to hire, train and educate new staff members.

In addition to articles about human resources, we’ve also provided you updates on important industry information, including changes at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation; information about this year’s North America Pizza & Ice Cream Show; the 2011 Ohio ProStart® Invitational and much more.

The ORA is also happy to announce that we’ve partnered with a new publisher – E&M Consulting – to develop our trade publication and our 2011 ORA Membership Directory. The ORA is optimistic that E&M’s existing knowledge of state restaurant associations – through their work with other leading SRAs – will translate to benefts for our members and the association. I am excited to work with Dan Schubert and his team at E&M in providing you with educational and informational publications that help you grow and sustain your business. Look for other “must keep” editions of à la Carte to hit your mailboxes – both a traditional printed version and an online edition – in the coming months.
