members met for the first
Breakfast Club at Ponzio’s on
Route 70 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The Breakfast Club is a new initiative
of the MASAE Education Committee
created to provide an informal
gathering of association professionals
and industry partners to expand their
peer network.
“The concept format is designed
to bring our members together to
jump-start their day and make new
connections within our association
and partner community,” said Tim
Bower (Bower Management Services),
co-chair of the club. “We start at 7:30
am so that you don’t spend half a day
out of the office and won’t need your
boss’s permission, or your professional
development budget, to attend.”
Attendees were unanimous in their
praise for the concept with most
saying that “not often do you get to sit
down in an informal setting and have a
quality conversation with a member of
your profession.”
“We intend to have at least three, if
not four, of these Breakfast Club
gatherings in other parts of our region in
2014,” stated Joe Sapp (Talley
Management Group), chair of the
MASAE Education Committee.
The September 18
th
Seminar on Best
Practices for Effective Facilitation:
Part 2, was extremely well-received
by attendees who felt the session
helped them focus on how to better
manage and facilitate their board
and committee meetings, as well
as improving their communication
skills. Session presenters Brian
Summers (Construction Financial
Management Association) and Ray
Saputelli (New Jersey Academy of
Family Physicians) delved deeper into
skill sets for good facilitation at every
level of association and organization
management. “Excellent presentation
with valuable information,” said Lisa
Mannon (The Chauncey Conference
Center). Attendees are already looking
forward to Part 3 – How to Facilitate
the Facilitators in Your Organization.
“We have set our 2014 Education and
Networking Calendar for 2014,” said
Joe Sapp and “MASAE members will
receive a full list of sessions and
how they can save money on early
registrations with their dues reminders
in November.”
