Jack Impey
passed away June 12. He was a proud U.S. Marine,
having served in World War II as a scout sniper. Impey attended
Drake University, Des Moines, IA, before beginning his career in
insurance and banking. In 1969, he organized Financial Insurance
Services Inc. He became acquainted withmany Illinois community
bankers as a correspondent banker for United Missouri Bank
(UMB). After retiring from UMB, Impey became an ambassador-
at-large for the Community Bankers Association of Illinois from
1996-2002. He established the Rinky Dinks Golf Classic in 1966
which has benefitted, among other causes, the CBAI Foundation
for Community Banking. At its June 2015 meeting, the CBAI
board of directors approved a resolution to designate Impey a
Distinguished Member of the Association. Impey is survived by
his wife, Angela; children Craig (Lynn) Impey, Lisa (Jim) Taylor,
Bill (Susan) Davis, Sue (Jerry) Moore, Mike (Teena) Davis, and
Mark (Maris) Davis, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Larry J. Herron, 73
, of Girard, passed away June 14.
Herron attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale;
his professional education included The Graduate School of
Banking, plus the Banker’s School, the Banker’s Trust School,
and the Illinois Agriculture Lending School. Herron built a
50-year career in banking, working for the
Illinois National
Bank, Springfield
, the
State Bank of Girard
, and the
State
Bank of Virden/First National Bank of Raymond
. He
retired in March of 2012. Surviving Herron are his wife of 51
years, Pauline; daughters: Melissa A. (Glen) Griffin, Michelle
L. (William) Severino, Melanie J. (Todd) Yancey and Marla S.
Herron; a son, Matthew D. (Susan) Herron; two sisters; and
eight grandchildren.
LuAnn Mees Beck, 61,
of Columbia, died June 29. She was
married to Frank Thomas “Tom” Beck, who survives her. Beck
was an officer at
Columbia National Bank
at the time of her
death, having been employed at the bank for 32 years. Also among
her survivors are daughters Rhonda (Chris) Shaw, Amy (Nathan)
Strong, and Stephanie (Steve) Pulse-Reichert; sons, Eric (Sarah)
Beck, and Jason (Lindsay) Pulse; and eight grandchildren.
